Solomon's Chastisement Upon Israel ?
”My son (SOLOMON from the Hebrew name SHELOMOH, which is derived from the Hebrew word SHALOM "peace"), despise not the (Jewish spiritual) DISCIPLINE (Hebrew: MUSSAR, Instruction) of the Lord, and do not abhor His chastening/correction for the Lord chastens the one He loves, as a father placates a son (Prov. 3:12).

Through Teshuva will come the salvation of Israel from destruction and suffering at the hands of the wicked nations. Judges Ch. 2 ”And the children of Israel did that which was evil in the eyes of the Lord and they served the Baalim. And they forsook the God of their forefathers, Who had brought them up from the land of Egypt, and they went after other gods, of the gods of the nations that were around them, and they bowed to them and they provoked the Lord...

And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and He delivered them into the hands of spoilers and they spoiled them (see Psalms 83, Ezekiel 36:2-3,5 38:11-12), and He gave them over into the hands of their enemies around, and they could no longer stand before their enemies.

Wherever they went out, the hand of the Lord was against them for evil, as the Lord had spoken and as the Lord had sworn to them, and they were greatly distressed (See Leviticus 26:14-39; Deuteronomy 28:15-68).

And the Lord raised up judges and they saved them from the hands of those who had spoiled them...” Constantly, in generation after generation He raised up judges who saved them from the wicked nations. Obadiah 21.

The wicked are merely His tools to execute His judgments (Psalms 89:29-33, II Samuel 7:14, 1 Kings 11:4-25, Isaiah 53:5): ”...for I have smitten you with the wound of an enemy, cruel chastisement..." (Jeremiah 30:7-17).

”Who among you will hearken to this, will listen and hear for the future? Who subjected Jacob to plunder and Israel to spoilers? Was it not the Lord? This, that we sinned against Him, and they did not want to go in His way and did not hearken to His Torah.

And He poured out upon them the fury of His anger and the strength of battle, and it blazed upon them all around and they did not know, and it burned among them and they did not take heed” (Isaiah 42:23-25).

”Arise, O Lord, confront him (the enemy) bring him down to his knees; rescue my soul from the wicked, Your sword” (Psalms 17:13, Isaiah 1:18-20). Beat his legs of "Iron and Clay", and he will kneel and fall (Daniel 2:31-35,40-44).

"And thou (Israel) shalt consider in thy heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the LORD thy God chasteneth thee..." (Deut.8.5-6, Exodus 4:22-23). "Behold, fortunate is the man whom God reproves so do not despise the chastening of the Almighty. For He brings pain and binds it; He wounds, and His hands heal" (Job 5:17-18).

"Israel is My son, My first-born" (Exodus 4:22).
"When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and out of Egypt I called My son" (Hosea 11:1). "For unto Me the children of Israel are servants; they are My servants whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God" (Leviticus 25:55). "...for I have become a Father to Israel, and Ephraim is My firstborn" (Jeremiah 31:8).

"Every time the name SHLOMO appears in Song of Songs, it is a holy name of God, who is the King of Peace" (Talmud Shevuos 35b). In the sense of punishment, the word "mussar" is used in the context of "mussar HaShem," or "the punishment of HaShem."

“All we like sheep did go astray, we turned every one to his own way, and the LORD hath made to light on him (Israel) the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6). We (the gentiles) sinned by inflicting punishment upon Israel. Such oppression is often described as “Hashem’s punishment” (Isaiah 10:5, Hab. 1:12), for He decreed that it should happen (Abarbanel), i.e., the curses (Lev. 26, Deut. 28) if they broke the covenant.

LEVITICUS 26:3-9 "If you follow My statutes and observe My commandments and perform them, I will give your rains in their time, the Land will yield its produce, and the tree of the field will give forth its fruit. Your threshing will last until the vintage, and the vintage will last until the sowing; you will eat your food to satiety, and you will live in security in your land.

And I will grant peace in the Land, and you will lie down with no one to frighten [you]; I will remove wild beasts from the Land, and no army will pass through your land; You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the sword before you;.. I will turn towards you, and I will make you fruitful and increase you, and I will set up My covenant with you." See Isaiah 54:10, Ezekiel 34:23-31, 37:21-28.

Final Count: 8 Israelis Dead in Attacks: Eight dead following a triple terrorist attack in Israel's southern region. IDF soldiers killed several terrorists and search for others. In the first attack, three terrorists ambushed bus # 392 about 30 kilometers from Eilat as it traveled on Route 12 from Be'er Sheva towards the city, opening fire with automatic weapons. Most of the passengers in the first bus were IDF soldiers heading to the Red Sea resort city on leave. The troops engaged the terrorists in a shootout, killing at least two of the three operatives and leaving a third critically injured.

Terrorists targeted a second Egged bus less than an hour later, firing a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) at the vehicle and wounding more passengers just a few kilometers from Eilat. An IDF military vehicle was blown up as it raced to the scene, driving over an explosive device planted on the narrow road, killing the car's occupants. A number of soldiers were seriously wounded in the attack (INN, 18/08/11).

Isaiah 53:5 "But he was pained BECAUSE OF our (the gentiles') transgressions, crushed BECAUSE OF our (the gentiles') iniquities; the chastisement of our welfare/peace (MUSSAR SHELOMENO) was upon him, and with his wound we were healed." F or he was chastised so that there be peace for the entire world (Rashi).  (Mussar; Jewish spiritual wisdom; morality, ethics; reproof or punishment).

The Christian Mistranslation of Isaiah 53:5, NKJ “But He was wounded FOR our transgressions, He was bruised FOR our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”

"The Jewish rendition “because of” and the Christian rendition “for” are not interchangeable in this context. The Jewish rendition relates that the servant was hurt due to the sinful acts of the Gentile nations, because of the evil behavior of the nations against the servant (the Jews); they were hurt.

The Christian rendition “for” relates that the servant (Jesus) took on the sins of the people, which caused him, and not them, to bear the consequences. That is to say; Jesus took on the iniquities of others, and caused their sins to be expiated through his suffering."

Identifying the "Suffering Servant" By Uri Yosef: Who is the Suffering Servant in Isaiah 53? Part I – The Jewish Interpretation, Valid or Not?

"I will forever keep My kindness for him (David), and My covenant will remain true to him. And I shall make his seed endure forever, and his throne as the days of the heavens.  If his sons forsake My Torah and do not walk in My judgments, If they profane My statutes and do not keep My commandments, I shall punish their transgression with a rod,* and their iniquity with stripes" (Psalms 89:29-33).

*So did Nathan the prophet say to him concerning Solomon (II Samuel 7:14): “ that when he goes astray from the Torah, I will chasten him with the rod of men.” This refers to Rezon the son of Eliada, who rose up as an adversary (satan) to him: “and with the stripes of the sons of Adam.”

1 Kings 11:4-25 "And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned away from the LORD, the God of Israel, who ...had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods; but he kept not that which the LORD commanded... and thou hast not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded thee,..

"And the LORD raised up an adversary (SATAN) unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite; he was of the king's seed in Edom. And God raised up another adversary (SATAN) unto him, Rezon the son of Eliada,.. And he was an adversary (SATAN) to Israel all the days of Solomon, beside the mischief that Hadad did; and he abhorred Israel,.." The adversaries  would come to test and try the House of David, to see if they would remain faithful to God’s Torah.

Gaza Terror Group Praises Eilat Attacks: The al-Qaeda-linked Gaza terror group Tawheed hailed Thursday's deadly terror attacks near Eilat and warned more attacks were coming. A small al-Qaida-linked terror group in Gaza hailed Friday a deadly series of attacks in southern Israel near Egypt that killed eight and warned more attacks would come, Reuters reports (INN, 19/08/11).

"If despite these (punishments) you will not be chastised toward Me...I will bring upon you a sword, avenging the vengeance of a covenant, you will be gathered into your cities; then I will send a pestilence among you, and you will be delivered into the hand of your enemy" (Lev. 26:23-25, Isaiah 1:19-20). God warns Israel that for their rebellion against the Torah they will suffer the vengeance of a covenant (Haamek Davar).

The steadily intensifying punishments (Leviticus 26); have these been more apparent than today? The coming evil can still be averted if the people will repent (see Amos 3:11-4:12).

PA Minister: We Demand Sovereignty Over Kotel:
A top PA official said that the PA was demanding sovereignty over the entire Old City of Jerusalem, including the Kotel (INN, 2/10/2014).

A-Jad: PA State First Step to Israel's Demise: Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinijad says the recognition of a PA state by the United Nations is just the first step to Israel's end. As Palestinian Authority officials prepare to make their statehood bid at the United Nations in September, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinijad said Friday the creation of a 'Palestinian state' ws only the first state to the destruction of Israel.

Ahmadinejad, restating the position he outlined after taking office in 2005, said Israel was a "tumor" to be wiped off the map and urged Arabs in PA administered areas not to settle for a two-state solution, but to strive for a complete return of what they consider their land.

"Recognizing the Palestinian state is not the last goal. It is only one step forward towards liberating the whole of Palestine," Ahmadinejad told worshippers at Friday prayers on international Qods Day -- an annual show of support for the PA cause.
"The Zionist regime is a center of microbes, a cancer cell and if it exists in one iota of Palestine it will mobilize again and hurt everyone."

"It is not enough for them to have a weak, powerless state in a very small piece of Palestine. They should unite to establish a state but the ultimate goal is the liberation of the whole of Palestine," he said.
"I urge the Palestinians never to forget this ideal. Forgetting this ideal is equal to committing suicide. It would be giving an opportunity to an enemy which is on the verge of collapse and disappearance." (INN, 26/08/11).Ahmadinejad will soon be in New York for the UN vote on Palestinian statehood and the Durban III racist Conference.

"Satan is only an agent of God. As a servant of the Almighty, Satan faithfully carries out the divine will of his Creator as he does in all his tasks. Throughout the Bible, an angel is a messenger of God who carries out the divine will of the Almighty. There is not one example in the Jewish scriptures where any angel, Satan included, opposes God's will.

In no part of the Bible is this more evident than in the Book of Job. In the first chapter of Job, Satan appears with other angels before God and suggests that Job's steadfast faithfulness would not withstand personal pain and utter destitution. Satan then requests from God the chance to test Job's virtue. The Almighty grants this request, but He meticulously outlines for Satan what he may and may not do when putting Job to the test.  Satan obediently follows his Creator's instructions.

Job is immediately put to the test and, by the third chapter, begins to struggle. He questions his Maker as to why he was created and, in a moment of despair, wishes aloud that he had perished in his mother's womb. Still, by the end of this unparalleled biblical narrative, Job's virtue prevails over Satan's unyielding torment. While in Christian terms Job's personal spiritual triumph is a theological impossibility, in Jewish terms it stands out as the embodiment of God's salvation program for mankind" (Rabbi Tovia Singer:
Who is Satan?).

“Yisurim” – suffering: Life can sometimes seem harsh and unfair; God occasionally brings upon people crisis, suffering and calamities, leaving us asking the unanswerable question of “why.” Moshe Rabbenu, in Parasha Eikev (Deut. 7:12-11:25), lays the foundation for the approach we should have toward Yisurim... After the devastation of the Holocaust, the State of Israel was founded, offering us yet another opportunity to bring our final redemption... Throughout the ages Israel and the Jewish people have had many adversaries, but as Psalm 89:24 says: "I shall crush his adversaries from before him (David, Israel), and I shall strike his enemies."

Tension in South Continues, IDF Targets Terrorists: IAF aircraft target terrorist sites in Gaza, as rockets continue to explode in southern Israel. “The IDF will not tolerate any attempt to harm Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers, and will respond with determination to any attempt to use terror against the State of Israel,” the IDF’s statement said. “The IDF holds the Hamas terrorist organization solely responsible for any terrorist activity emanating from the Gaza Strip” (INN, 19/08/11).

Genesis 3:15 "And I shall place hatred between you (the old serpent, satan, NACHASH) and between the woman, and between your seed and between her seed. He (God) will crush your head, and you (the woman) will bite his heel (AKEV)." Even from there you will kill him.

‘Iron Dome’ Intercepts Three Rockets over Ashkelon: The Iron Dome defense system intercepted three Grad rockets aimed at Ashkelon Sunday morning as Israel debates how to react to Hamas’ war (INN, 21/08/11).

Hamas is a terrorist entity which call themselves "Muslims,"

meaning "submit to God."

It appears that present-day Hamas was brought into existence for the purpose of being wiped out very soon in fulfillment of this prophecy. Isaiah 60:18 “Violence (Hebrew: HAMAS) shall no more be heard in thy land, desolation nor destruction within thy borders;.."

It also might appear from a simple reading of the Prophet Tzefaniah 2, that the abandonment of Gaza etc. takes place on the day of God's anger (the day of doom), Who "crushed kings on the day of His wrath" (Psalms 110:5). Rashi (Tzef. 2:4) explains Tzephaniah's prophecy of their future devastation as a promise to Israel that if they will follow the path of repentance (v 3) "Seek ye the LORD,.. seek righteousness, seek humility..." - God will punish their wicked neighbors, the Philistines, Ammonites and Moabites of today.

We also look forward to the re-fulfillment of Isaiah 14:28-32, against the Philistines of today, when the fire of violence and destruction that today emanate from Gaza will be extinguished forever and the people of Israel shall feed and lie down in safety.

Isaiah 14:29 "...for, from the root of a snake (Ahaz) (Hebrew: NACHASH) shall emanate a venomous serpent (Hezekiah, a viper which was  much more dangerous), and his offspring is a fiery flying serpent." Hezekiah would swoop down from the north upon the Philistine capital, Gaza, everyone of his troops in full formation and deal them a severe blow.

Israeli warplanes strike Gaza City: Israeli warplanes struck the Az-Zaitoun neighborhood south of Gaza City on Friday morning, witnesses said, after seven Palestinians were killed in raids on the coastal enclave. The daylight strike in Az-Zaitoun caused damage to a home but no casualties, medics said.

Just after midnight Friday, Israeli warplanes launched a series of raids targeting Gaza City, the northern towns of Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahiya, and Khan Younis in the south. Gaza medical official Adham Abu Salmiya said an airstrike on a home near the former intelligence services headquarters in Gaza City killed 13-year-old Mahmoud Abu Samra and injured 18 others... (Al Qassam website, 19-08-2011).

The Philistines of our days, should not rejoice over a death in the Davidic Dynasty, which always triumphed over them, from David and Uzziah, who defeated them (II Samuel 8:1; II Chr. 26:6), to Hezekiah (II Kings 18:8).

And instead of ignominiously retreating from Gaza, in the time of MASHIACH Israel will conquer it (Isaiah 11:13-14, Genesis 15:18-21, Tzefaniah 2:1-11). "And it shall be a portion for the remnant of the house of Judah, whereon they shall feed;.." (Tzefaniah 2:7, Zechariah 14:7). The Hebrew letters of NACHASH and MASHIACH have exactly the same numerical value, 358. The serpent is respected because of its wisdom and high intelligence.

Rashi interprets Isaiah 27:3-6 as God's appeal to Israel to repent in order to enable Him to answer the attribute of Justice, which objects that Israel also sin and should thus be treated no differently from the nations. If Israel will only repent, God will be able to exact retribution from "those who make war against Me - that is, ISHMAEL" without the attribute of Justice being able to protest (Rashi on v 4).

Eight Injured in Terror Attack in Tel Aviv: Eight people injured in terror attack in southern Tel Aviv, after Arab steals a taxi, runs over one person and stabs others (INN, 29/08/11). PA Terror Attack in Tel Aviv Was Aimed at 2,000 Teens: Police prevented a huge disaster by stopping PA terrorist at a Tel Aviv nightclub filled with nearly 2,000 youth. Eight wounded (INN, 29/08/11).

Eilat on High Alert for Possible Terrorist Attack: Israeli security personnel scoured the Eilat area Monday night due to a concrete warning of an impending terror attack. Israeli soldiers and security personnel scoured the Negev Desert Monday night, searching for terrorists in the Eilat area. The IDF was operating on high alert over the possibility of an attack in the same area in which eight people were murdered and 40 others were wounded in a multi-pronged terrorist operation less than two weeks ago (INN, 29/08/11).

"G-d therefore sends many trials in life, and sometimes takes us through the very wilderness "in order to chastise you, to test you, to know what is in your heart and whether you will observe His commandments or not" (Deut. 8:2). We are here to learn a deep lesson that we have to know not just in our minds but within our very hearts. The lesson is, "that just as a man chastises his son [out of love] so HaShem your G-d chastises you" (ibid. 4. 5).

We have to learn and know in our hearts that any suffering we endure and all the obstacles in our path are sent not because G-d wants to throw us down but rather because He wants us to strive harder to get up, in order to come to greater good" (Rabbi Avraham Greenbaum, Universal Torah

"And the children of Israel did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD (i.e., transgressing the everlasting covenant, idolatry, turning back from following the LORD, etc); and the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years. And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel;.. And Israel was brought very low (vayiDAL, DAL "poor, wretched" They were poor without good deeds) because of Midian;..(Judges 6). What does "You shall walk after the L-rd your God" mean?  - follow His attributes (Psalm 103:6-8, Ex. 34:6-7, Joel 2:12-14, Jonah 3).

For how long will Israel be delivered into the hands of the "Palestinians"? The enemies "were there to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which He commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses" (Judges 3). And when the children of Israel did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD--every time He gave them over into the hands of their enemies. And when the children of Israel repented and cried unto the LORD, He ALWAYS raised up a redeemer, prophet or judge, who saved them (Obadiah, Isaiah 59:20-21).

"Oh let him take hold of My strength that he make peace for Me" (v 5): God appeals to Israel to take hold of His Torah, which is His "strength", for this will assuage His anger and frustration at not being able to take vengeance on His enemies, and He will then have peace from the attribute of Justice, which will no longer be able to make accusations against Israel (Rashi). In time to come, when Israel will repent, they will take root and flourish and fill the earth with fruit (kindness, good deeds) (v 6).

Or is The World Facing Iran to Save Israel? "And it shall come to pass on that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come upon Jerusalem" (Zech. 12:2-9, 14:1-3,12-16). Dozens of old prophesies speak of the destruction of the nations of the world (Jeremiah 30:7-11, Isaiah 24:1-6, 66:15-18, Ez. 39:6, Zep. 2.1-11, Numbers 23:9, Ch. 24) and/or God's chastisement; reprovement, correction and discipline of the "arrogant powers" - so they can turn away from their evil, is about to materialize (Isaiah 2:12-22, 51:4-8, Psalm 2:9-10).

Isaiah (Ch. 10) teaches that the nations; USA, EU, Iran, Arabs; "Palestinians"; the UN etc., that RISE UP against Israel are nothing but God's rod of chastisement; MUSSAR SHELOMENOH (Isaiah 53:5, see II Sam. 7:14, Psalms 89:29-33, 1 Kings 11:4-25), used as a tool to accomplish a specific purpose; to bring us to repentance; return and take hold of His Torah (Isaiah 27.4-5).

"For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall be accomplished, and Mine anger shall be to their (the nations´) destruction" (Isaiah 10:5-26, 17:12-14). Having served his purpose, to cause such fear among the Israelites, that they would be humbled, repent and turn to God; Sennacherib (or Gog and Magog, God's axe and saw of retribution) would be CUT DOWN in retribution for his overweening arrogance;

"For he said, "With the strength of my hand I accomplished it, and with my wisdom, for I am clever, and I remove the boundaries of peoples, and their positions have I plundered, and I lowered many inhabitants..." (Isaiah 10:13-14).

Should the axe boast itself against Him that heweth therewith?" (Isaiah 10:15). Sennacherib would be overthrown through a miracle which would bear comparison with the overthrow of the Egyptians at the Sea of Reeds (Exodus 15:9, Ch 14-15) and the future owerthrow of the forces of Gog and Magog (Ezekiel 38:12-13, 36:2,5, Psalms 83). See commentaries at  Instead of worrying of present-day Persia will harm Israel , we should repent with all our hearts and trust in God (Daniel 12:1).

For you who love the God of Israel and the Jewish people, and is in despair, because of all the pain, threats and injustice this precious people is exposed to - God´s purpose in sending enemies against Israel, is as history shows; to force them to repent, return to Him and His Torah, so that God's Master plan for all the peoples' welfare, shall succeed by Israel´s hand (Isaiah 53:10). What is His plan? To spread knowledge of God (1 Sam. 17:49, Dan. 2:35, Is. 11:9, 53:10-11, Hab. 2:11,13-14), for "to Me shall every knee kneel," (Isaiah 45:23,Tzef. 3:9, Zech. 14:9, Deut. 6:4).
