In 1994, the former US President, Ronald Reagen, told the American people he was one of the millions of peoples afflicted with
: "I now begin the journey that will lead me into the sunset of my life. I know that for America there will always be a bright dawn ahead."
Malachi 3:20 "And the sun of mercy shall rise with healing in its wings for you who fear My Name."
After years of private care,
The former first Lady ,Nancy Reagan,
spoke to the depth of her loss shortly before his death in 2004, "Ronnie's long journey has finally taken him to a distant place where I can no longer reach him," she said.
PM: In other countries fires last longer:
Netanyahu, who met with senior Druze officials in Usfiya, preferred to look on the bright side. "In other countries, big fires took longer. We have been asked, 'How can you put out a big fire in less than three days, while it takes other countries three weeks?' My response was, 'We have no other country, and it's a very small country.'
Several of the prison guards killed in a
bus caught in the fire
, belong to the Druze sector, and the wildfire destroyed millions of trees and burned down thousands of acres of land near the villages of Usfiya and Dalyat al-Carmel.
"The Carmel is something special, so there is international willingness to restore what has been destroyed. The international recruitment included our Arab neighbors. We received help from Jordan's King Abdullah. Egypt's president, the Palestinian Authority chairman. May this disaster bring about good, bring about peace" (Ynet News, 12.05.10).
See Leviticus 26:1-9 "If ye walk in My statutes, and keep My commandments, and do them;.. I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid; and I will cause evil beasts to cease out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land... And I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you; and will establish My covenant (of Peace) with you." See also Isaiah 54:9-10, Ezekiel 34:21-31, 37:21-28 .
Ezekiel 18:21-23,27-28 "And if the wicked man repent of all his sins that he has committed and keeps all My laws and executes justice and righteousness, he shall surely live, he shall not die. All his transgressions that he has committed shall not be remembered regarding him: through his righteousness that he has done he shall live. Do I desire the death of the wicked? says the Lord God. Is it not rather in his repenting of his ways that he may live? And when a wicked man repents of his wickedness that he has done, and does justice and righteousness, he will keep his soul alive. He will see and repent of all his transgressions that he has committed-he shall surely live; he shall not die."
Arab Media: International Fire Aid Signals Israeli Weakness:
Hizbullah terrorists are celebrating the
in northern Israel that left 41 dead and destroyed more than 12,500 acres (50,000 dunam) of forested land.
“The great Carmel fire has embarrassed Israel's firefighting capabilities and proved its almost complete incompetence,” crowed the Hizbullah-linked Al-Manar TV news network.
“The enormous blaze that broke out on the Carmel proved that Israel is not prepared for war or a mass terrorist strike that would cause many casualties in the home front,” the new network wrote on its Internet website.
Al-Manar quoted liberally from a leftist Israeli news website, pointing out “the Israeli daily pointed to the help Israel has asked for, an opportunity that wouldn't be offered for the Zionist entity in the case of war... The disaster has shown that the Israeli enemy was unable to face the incident alone, pushing Israeli officials to ask for international help.”
Blaze in Israel Delights Many in the Arab World
: Many in the Arab world seem happy with the big fire that has been raging in northern Israel over the past few days, judging from comments by readers in several leading Arab media outlets and websites. Many Arabs also strongly condemned Egypt and Jordan for agreeing to help in extinguishing the blaze. Others called on Israel's enemies, particularly Iran, Hamas and Hizbullah, to seize the opportunity and try to wipe Israel off the face of the earth (See Jerusalem Post).
Proverbs 28:4 "Those who forsake the Torah praise the wicked, but those who keep the Torah contend with them."
Israel Hit by Arson Wave
Dozens of blazes were reported across Israel Friday, on top of the massive forest fire raging in northern Israel. Police suspect that many of the latest blazes were set by arsonists (Ynet News).
Other Countries Help Israel Fight Carmel Forest Fire
Countries that sent firefighting aircraft, firefighters and equipment to assist Israel in extinguishing the wildfire on the Carmel mountain range include Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Italy, Jordan, Palestinian Authority, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, UK and U.S (Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs).

21 Palestinian firefighters arrived at the Mt. Carmel region on Sunday to assist Israel in its battle against the huge fire. (Ynet News).
Wikileaks: Saudis, Gulf States Big Funders of Terror Groups:
In their communiques to the State Department, U.S. embassies in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states describe a situation in which wealthy private donors, often openly, lavishly support the same groups against whom Saudi Arabia claims to be fighting.
In a summary assessment dated December 30, 2009, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton writes, “Donors in Saudi Arabia constitute the most significant source of funding to Sunni terrorist groups worldwide. Saudi Arabia remains a critical financial support base for Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba), and other terrorist groups, including Hamas, which probably raise millions of dollars annually from Saudi sources.”
Much of the money is collected from Muslim pilgrims who come during the annual Ramadan pilgrimages, the memo said.
Video: Israel Thanks Volunteers from Around the World:
Israeli officials thanked on Tuesday the hundreds of foreign volunteers who came to the country's aid during the Carmel forest fire, with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, President Shimon Peres, and Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon speaking at an event attended by over 250 volunteers, including firefighters, pilots, and rescue workers, along with diplomats and officials of foreign governments.
Among the foreign dignitaries attending the ceremony were the Deputy Foreign Minister of Bulgaria, Dimiter Tzantchev, and diplomats from Spain, Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, Switzerland, the United States, Azerbaijan, Croatia and France.
Ezekiel 18:24 "And when the righteous repents of his righteousness and does wrong and does like all the abominations that the wicked man did, shall he live? All his righteous deeds that he has done shall not be remembered; in his treachery that he has perpetrated and in his sin that he has sinned, in them shall he die."
US Pushing For Disengagement from Judea & Samaria: A senior political source in Jerusalem has warned that the United States is pressing for new Israeli concessions to the Western-backed Palestinian Authority which may include a unilateral Israeli withdrawal from Judea and Samaria and a transfer of responsibility for defense to the PA (INN, Dec/08/10).
Abbas in Turkey for Meetings: According to a PA statement, Abbas was to update the Turkish leaders on recent developments in the stalled negotiations with Israel. The PA dropped out of U.S. sponsored talks at the end of September, demanding that Israel impose another building freeze on Judea and Samaria. The PA has not backed down on any of its other demands, such as Israel's surrender of liberated parts of Jerusalem, an Israeli withdrawal to the 1948 armistice lines, and the resettlement in Israel of descendants of refugees who fled in the wake of the 1948 War of Independence. He is not willing to recognize Israel as the Jewish state. In the past, Turkey has expressed full support for the PA's positions (INN, 12/06/10).
Israel has just been hit by the worst natural disaster since its re-establishment in 1948. 43 people have lost their lives, many have been injured, entire neighborhood have been destroyed. As funerals are taking place, the whole nation is in mourning. We are called upon, "to console all mourners. To place for the mourners of Zion, to give them glory instead of ashes, oil of joy instead of mourning, a mantle of praise instead of a feeble spirit,.. And they shall build the ruins of old, the desolations of the first ones they shall erect; and they shall renew ruined cities, desolations of all generations" (Isaiah 61:2-3).
As the threat of war is looming over our heads, I will encourage each and everybody to send a powerful message of solidarity with the people of Israel, by donating to one of the many Jewish organizations which are called upon to raise donations - to reach out to the many families who have lost their loved ones, homes and possessions.
World Jewry to Raise Funds to Help Victims of Carmel Fire "There will be a large mobilization of the Jewish world to help rebuild lives and replant the trees that have been destroyed," said Dan Diker, secretary general designate of the World Jewish Congress. (Jerusalem Post).
Daniel 4:24 "Indeed, O king, may
my counsel please you, and with charity you will remove your sin and your iniquity by showing mercy to the poor; perhaps your tranquility will last." Psalm 122:6 "Request the welfare of Jerusalem; may those who love you enjoy tranquility."
Daniel advised Nebuchadnezzar to redeem his sins with charity.
Daniel saw the Jews poor and humbled by the exile, going from door to door begging for alms, and he gave Nebuchadnezzar advice to deal mercifully with them. He said to him, “These poor people whom you exiled are hungry, nourish them.” And so he did. He opened his storehouses and fed them for a full twelve months... His tranquility lasted until he decided to stop giving charity. See Psalm 41:2-4.
Riches will not avail on the day of wrath, but charity will save from death." Proverbs 10:22 "
Treasures of wickedness will not avail, but charity will save from death." Jeremiah 21:8 "
And to this people you shall say; So said the Lord: Behold I place before you the way of life and the way of death."
Proverbs 12:28 "
In the road of charity (TZEDAKAH, righteousness, kindness, good deeds) is life, and [on] the way of its path there is no death." With the coming of Mashiach, people will understand that wealth is of no importance, because only Torah and good deeds are of enduring value (Isaiah 2:11-22).
Deuteronomy 30:15-16 "Behold, I have set before you today life and good, and death and evil,
inasmuch as I command you this day to love the Lord, your God, to walk in His ways, and to observe His commandments, His statutes, and His ordinances, so that you will live and increase, and the Lord, your God, will bless you in the land to which you are coming to take possession of it.
Genesis 7:1 ”And the Lord said to Noah, "Come into the ark, you and all your household, for it is you that I have seen as a righteous
man before Me in this generation."
But Noah found
favor in the eyes of the Lord.
Noah was a righteous man he was
perfect in his generations; Noah walked with God." Noah required God’s support to uphold him in righteousness, but Abraham strengthened himself and walked in his righteousness by himself [Tan. Noach 5]. 'The Lord, before Whom I (Abraham) walked..' (Genesis 24:40). "I am the Almighty God; walk before Me and be perfect (blameless) (Genesis 17:1). "Be wholehearted with the Lord, your God" (Deuteronomy 18:13).
"Praiseworthy are those whose way is perfect, who walk with the law (Torah) of the Lord. Praiseworthy are those who keep His testimonies; who seek Him wholeheartedly. Not only have they committed no injustice, they walked in His ways" Psalm 119:1-3).
Genesis 17:18 "And Abraham said to God, "If only Ishmael will live before You!"This means: “Let him live in fear of You,” “Walk before Me, ”Serve Me.” Proverbs 8:13 "Fear of the Lord is to hate evil, haughtiness, pride, the way of evil, and a perverse mouth; [these] I hate." Proverbs 16:6 "With loving-kindness and truth will iniquity be expiated, and through fear of the Lord turn away from evil." See Job 28:28.
Deuteronomy 6:24-25 "And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is at this day. And it shall be righteousness unto us, if we observe to do all this commandment before the LORD our God, as He hath commanded us.'
Isaiah 32:17-18 "And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and confidence for ever. And my people shall abide in a peaceable habitation, and in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting-places."
Isaiah 48:17-19 "Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the LORD thy God, who teacheth thee for thy profit, who leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go. Oh that thou wouldest hearken to My commandments! then would thy peace be as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea;
Thy seed also would be as the sand, and the offspring of thy body like the grains thereof; his name would not be cut off nor destroyed from before Me." See Jeremiah 30:7-11, Daniel 12:1, Zechariah 12:9. While non-Jews are only obligated to obey the seven commandments given to Noah, Jews are responsible for fulfilling the
in the Torah.
Deuteronomy 30:19-20 "This day, I call upon the heaven and the earth as witnesses [that I have warned] you: I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. You shall choose life, so that you and your offspring will live;
To love the Lord your God, to listen to His voice, and to cleave to Him. For that is your life and the length of your days, to dwell on the land which the Lord swore to your forefathers to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob to give to them."
Deuteronomy 32:46-47 "Set your hearts to all of the words which I bear witness for you this day, so that you may command your children to observe to do all the words of this Torah. For it is not an empty thing for you, for it is your life, and through this thing, you will lengthen your days upon the land to which you are crossing over the Jordan, to possess it." See Ezekiel 18:4-9.

Jewish Organizations Help Fire Victims:
As the fire on the Carmel was finally
put out on Sunday
, Jewish organizations began to offer their support to the many victims of the largest fire in Israel’s history. Help has been offered to both those who were evacuated from their homes as well as the families of the victims of the fire.
Shomron Regional Council
is involved in a number of levels in rescue and welfare for the residents of the area hit by the fire.
1. We have opened the Midrashot guest houses in Shomron to host families from the north who have been evacuated from their homes. Hundreds of families will be able to stay in our facilities at Elon Moreh, Shavi Shomron, Itamar midrashot for as long as needed. If there is greater demand the town halls of our communities will also be used to house evacuees.
Samaria Preparing to Take in Evacuees
2. The staff and social workers of the Shomron council's social services department have been sent to offer their professional assistance to their colleague in the northern municipalities by giving direct support to the victims of the fire.
3. 100 members of the Shomron Emergency Search and Rescue with their jeeps and emergency equipment are at the site of the fire taking a lead in search and rescue efforts.
The Shomron Regional Council is glad to be able to offer its top grade emergency teams and hospitality for the victims of this disaster.
The Shomron emergency teams have the highest level of expertise dealing with tragic situations due to years of dealing with terror related events and their results. We have put all of our resources at disposal of the effort. Our agencies are not funded for dealing with national disasters and are in need of donations to cover costs.
We have set up a special emergency fund for the assistance for the victims of the Carmel fire. We would greatly appreciate your help in connecting caring people who would like to help this cause also.
Once we are done with the rescue efforts we will move on to the next stage of assisting those who lost their loved ones, homes and belongings.
Prison Rabbi Uriel Malka, father of five from Karnei Shomron, was one of the 36 prison cadets to be consumed by the Carmel fire. Rabbi Malka, 32, is survived by his wife Ortal and five children, aged 9 and younger.

Peres: Carmel fire disaster proves Jews, Arabs share the same fate:
Speaking at the funeral of fire-fighting teenager Elad Rebin in Nesher, Peres, referring to the bushfire that had been tearing through the Carmel since Thursday, that the "disaster taught us that all of us, Jews, Arabs, Druze, and other peoples, share the same fate."
"The skies were suddenly filled with pilots and planes from twenty different countries," the president said, adding that, on the ground, came "fire trucks and firefighters from neighbors and [nations] far away – Greece, Germany, France, Britain, Italy, Cyprus, Bulgaria, the United States, Russia, and more."
In a possible reference to criticism of Israel's apparent inability to deal with the blaze, Peres said that, while Israel may have been missing tools in its fight against the Carmel fire, "there was not shortage whatsoever of wonderful people and volunteers." "Suddenly we are all one family, one people, bearing responsibility, tearful, and ready for sacrifice, we are one," Peres said (Haaretz, 05.12.10).
Isaiah 24:1-6 "Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof. And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the creditor, so with the debtor. The earth shall be utterly emptied, and clean despoiled; for the LORD hath spoken this word.
The earth fainteth and fadeth away, the world faileth and fadeth away, the lofty people of the earth do fail. The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, violated the statute, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore hath a curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are found guilty; therefore the inhabitants of the earth waste away, and men are left few."
This prophecy refers to the earth as a whole and to the devastation that will strike the nations at the time of the redemption of Israel including both the Lost Ten Tribes (Israel, Ephraim) and the people of Judah (Jews). If this prophesy refers to Israel, it is referring to the transgression of the two Torahs, the written and the oral (Metzudas David). If it refers to the nations of the world, it refers to the transgression of the Seven Laws of Noah (Genesis 9:8-17) and their persecution of Israel in excess of what God decreed, thereby violating the covenant of brotherhood (Amos 1:9-11, Obadiah Ch. 1) that should have existed between Esau, Ammon, Moab and Ishmael and their close relative Israel (see Azamra.org).
Deuteronomy 4:27-31 "And the LORD shall scatter you among the peoples, and ye shall be left few in number among the nations, whither the LORD shall lead you away. And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell. But from thence ye will seek the LORD thy God; and thou shalt find Him, if thou search after Him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
In thy distress, when all these things are come upon thee, in the end of days, thou wilt return to the LORD thy God, and hearken unto His voice;
for the LORD thy God is a merciful God; He will not fail thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which He swore unto them" (Leviticus Ch. 26, Deuteronomy 11:26-28, Ch. 28, Daniel 12:1, Jeremiah 30:7-11).
Deuteronomy 30:1-4 "And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt bethink thyself among all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee, and shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and hearken to His voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul; that then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the peoples, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.
The choice of whether to accept the way of the Torah or not, is nothing less than the choice between the blessing or the curse.
If any of thine that are dispersed be in the uttermost parts of heaven, from thence will the LORD thy God gather thee, and from thence will He fetch thee." God will seek out the Jews wherever their journey took them, even from "the clefts of the rocks" (the graves), Jeremiah 16:16-17. "
For My eyes are on all their ways, they were not hidden from before Me, neither was their iniquity hidden from before My eyes."
Proverbs 14:12 ”There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is ways of death.”
The pathos of our condition in this benighted world is that we cannot see what the consequences of our choices will be, particularly in the very long term. This is why we require the guidance of God's Torah, since He sees to the end of everything. The wisdom of the Torah brings a person to keep to the ways of the righteous, who "will dwell in the land" (Proverbs Ch. 2) "the world to come" (Rashi).
Those who fall victim to idolatry will loose the life of this world and the next (Proverbs Ch. 5). The greatest curse is to be cut of from "the world to come," the Jewish consept of heaven, everlasting life, resurrection. Bitter is the end of anyone who goes after the "strange woman" (idolatry), and this is why the "children" should listen to the warnings of the loving Father not to go after her (Proverbs Ch. 7). May the Almighty lovingly guide us to the true Tzaddik so that we will not go astray! ”
The instruction of a wise man
is a spring of life (for he teaches us), to turn away from the snares of death” (Proverbs 13:14).
Netanyahu Wants Immediate Aid to Carmel Fire Families:
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened on Monday morning a meeting of the director-generals of all ministries relevant to the rehabilitation effort following the Carmel fire. Netanyahu instructed Finance Ministry Dir.-Gen. Haim Shani to immediately allocate 2,500 shekels to each individual whose home was burned and who will not be able to return it by the end of this month. Netanyahu specifically asked that the Carmel evacuees not have to face the bureaucratic delays that were faced by families evicted from Gush Katif in Gaza in 2005.
Proverbs 3:27-28 "Do not withhold good from the one who needs it when you have power in your hand to do it. Do not say to your fellow, "Go and return, and tomorrow I will give," though you have it with you." Do not be reluctant or slow to help others. Even unwarranted delay is a form of refusal.

Tzedakah Part 1
What is the difference between charity and tzedakah? Is there a difference?
Genesis 12:3 "And I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse, and all the families of the earth shall be blessed in you."
Nations, kingdoms and empires will be judged on how they treat the Jewish people.
"This is how you shall bless the children of Israel, (
Numbers 6:23-27): “May HaShem bless you.”
With increasing wealth and long lives and the many blessings in the Torah (Deut. 28:1-14 & Lev. 26:1-13).
“and safeguard you” May the above blessings be preserved against loss or attack.
The best way for someone to preserve his wealth is to use it for charity and good deeds, that assures him God’s continued blessing (Yalkut Yehuda).
“May HaShem illuminate His countenance for you.”
This is the blessing of spiritual growth, the light of Torah (Prov. 6:23) which is symbolized by God’s countenance" (Sifre) Literally "face." God hid His face "because of all the evil they have committed, when they turned to other deities" (Deut. 31:18).
May God enlighten you so that you will be capable of perceive the wondrous wisdom of the Torah. See Psalm 19:8-12
“May HaShem turn His countenance to you” “and be gracious to you” May you find favor in God’s eyes and in the
eyes of others. “and establish peace for you.” See
Lev. 26:1-9, Deut. 6:24-25, Isaiah 32:17-18, 48:17-19, 54:9-10, Ezekiel 34:21-31, 37:21-28. See "Pathway to Peace."
God's overthrow of the armies of Gog and Magog and His restoration of Israel to dwell at peace in their land will be the vindication of His glory in the eyes of both Israel and all the nations, who will thereby know that HaShem rules (
"And I shall no longer hide My face from them, for I shall have poured out My spirit upon the House of Israel," says the Lord God."
