II Kings Ch. 17 is a summary of the sad history...
of the the Ten Tribes, their refusal to heed prophetic warnings, their rebellion and forsaking of the Torah and its commandments, idolatry and their total downfall.

And the children of Israel fabricated things which were not so about the Lord their God, and they built themselves high places in all their cities, from watchtower to fortified city” (17:9).And the Lord became very much incensed against Israel, and He sent them away from before Him; none was left but the tribe of Judah alone. Neither did Judah observe the commandments of the Lord their God, and they followed the practices of Israel that they did (v 18-19).” And the king of Assyria captures Samaria and exiles Israel to Assyria.

LISTEN FOR FREE: How do Missionaries Paint Jesus into the Jewish Scriptures? This is a fascinating program where Rabbi Singer demonstrates how missionaries use the Jewish scriptures for the purpose of evangelizing and ultimately converting the Jewish people to Christianity.   He illustrates how verses in the Hebrew Scriptures are manipulated, misquoted taken out of context, mistranslated, and even invented by overzealous missionaries in order to make Tanach appear as though it is speaking about Jesus.

The Assyrian king then settles foreigners from Babylonia, Cuthah... in the towns of  Samaria instead of the people of Israel (a policy of population exchange, as promoted by USA and others; expulsion of Jews - settling ”Palestinians” in their place).

Obama Promises Saudi King that Israel will Withdraw from Jerusalem, West Bank : "The Saudi king wanted Washington to adopt and implement the Saudi plan for an Arab-Israeli settlement,.." "which called for full Israeli withdrawal to the 1967 borders, a Palestinian state and the return of Palestinian refugees to their homes in what was now Israel."

"And I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to wage war; and the city shall be captured, and the houses shall be plundered, and the women shall be ravished,
and half the city shall go forth into exile---and the rest of the people shall not be cut off from the city." (Zec. 14:2, 12:2-3,14:3). Jerusalem was divided 1948-67. Was that the exile of half the city mentioned in Zechariah 14:2?

Joel 4:1-2 "For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring back the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat; and I will enter into judgment with them there for My people and for My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and divided My land."

Hopefully, this day of fasting (TishaBeAv), prayer and repentance will prevent President Obama & Co. from carrying out their wicked plans. At the End of Days, in the War of Gog and Magog, the nations will conquer Jerusalem and divide its spoils, but God will save the people, as He did when the Egyptians pursued them to the Sea of Reeds (Radak on Zechariah 14:1-3).

Exodus 14:10 "They were very frightened, and the children of Israel cried out to the Lord." And He put darkness between them and the Egyptians, and brought the sea upon the Egyptians, and it covered them (Joshua 24:7). God saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heard their cry, and He performed signs (plagues) and wonders against Pharaoh and against all his servants and against all the people of his land, (Nehemiah 9:9-10).

"They (the righteous) cry out and
the Lord hearkens, and He saves them from all their troubles" (Psalm 34:18, Ch. 107).

The Prophet Isaiah in Chs. 10,13-23  depicts the fall of Assyria and various peoples that have surrounded and oppressed Israel, including Egypt, the Philistines, Moab and Tyre and the cataclysmic fall of Nebuchadnezzar, the wicked king of Babylon, who dared to exile Judah, set his hand against Jerusalem and destroy the first Temple. God called to the warriors of Medea (Darius) and Persia (Cyrus, Iran) to gather for war against Babylon. "And their babes shall be dashed before their eyes; their houses pillaged, and their wives ravished" (Isaiah 13:16). The evil of Babylonia cause God to decree its destruction, Midah Keneged Midah.
II Kings 17:26 "But the newcomers do not fear God, ”
and the Lord incited lions against them, and they were killing them,” because they ”do not know the law (Torah) of the God of the land."

Leviticus Chs. 18-20 spells out  Laws and Decrees "which man shall carry out and by which he shall live (v 5) in the land of Israel. God is warning the Children of Israel that they should not perform the practice of the land of Egypt, where they dwelled, or the forbidden practices and traditions of the land of Canaan, to which He brought them, lest the Land be defiled.

"And you shall observe all My statutes and all My ordinances, and fulfill them, then the Land, to which I am bringing you to dwell therein, will not vomit you out. You shall not follow the practices of the nation that I am sending away from before you, for they committed all these [sins], and I was disgusted with them. So I said to you, You shall possess their land, and I shall give it to you to possess it a land flowing with milk and honey  (Torah knowledge). I am the Lord your God, Who has distinguished you from the peoples" (Leviticus 20:22-24, 1). The land's holiness cannot tolerate the sort of sins described in these Chapters, and it was about to vomit out its Canaanite inhabitants, because they persisted in these activities. When the Jews themselves began to indulge in such behavior, they, too, were disgorged.

A Hamas Web site published the videotape wills of two suicide bombers in which they pledge to drink Jews blood until they flee from Muslim land: One of the terrorists said: "By the life of Allah, we will destroy you. We will blow you up. We will take our revenge on you. We will purify our land of you, pigs, who have defiled our land. By the life of Allah, we will take our vengeance. We are carrying out this operation as harsh revenge against the sons of monkeys and pigs." (Haaretz, 15.02.06). However, God has given the land of Israel to the Jews, not to Hamas, the PA or Arab "Palestinians" It is precisely those kind of wicked people, who do not live according to the Torah - that the land "will spew out."

According to Islam, the ancient Jews were turned into animals, for transgressing the word of God, and in the matter of the Sabbath. This Divine punishment is mentioned in three Quranic verses: Surah 5:60: “... those who incurred the curse of Allah and His wrath, those of whom some He transformed into apes and swine, those who worshipped evil;- these are (many times) worse in rank, and far more astray from the even path!"

Surah 2:65 ”And well ye knew those amongst you who transgressed in the matter of the Sabbath: We said to them: "Be ye apes, despised and rejected." Surah 7:162,163,167 ”But the transgressors among them changed the word from that which had been given them so we sent on them a plague from heaven. For that they repeatedly transgressed.” ”Behold! they transgressed in the matter of the Sabbath.” ”Behold! thy Lord did declare that He would send against them, to the Day of Judgment, those who would afflict them with grievous penalty. Thy Lord is quick in retribution, but He is also Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.”

It is in this light that Iran, Hamas, PA/Fatah, the Muslim Brotherhood and other Jihad fighters have to be regarded. "Israel will rise and will remain erect until Islam eliminates it as it had eliminated its predecessors." In former years it was the Roman Catholic Church, the Crusaders, the Spanish Inquisition, Russian Pogroms, the Nazis, etc., who afflicted the Jewish people, but now the Muslims have taken it upon themselves the task of; "those who would afflict them with grievous penalty..."

The Hamas has a 'military' wing,
Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades , that engages in terrorist acts and kidnapping, and a 'civilian' wing that supposedly confines itself to education and 'good works.' Hamas Charter Article 7: "the Hamas has been looking forward to implement Allah's promise whatever time it might take. The prophet, prayer and peace be upon him, said: The time will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim! there is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him! This will not apply to the Gharqad, which is a Jewish tree (cited by Bukhari and Muslim)."

Hamas Charter Article 32: "Within the circle of the conflict with world Zionism, the Hamas regards itself the spearhead and the avant-garde. It joins its efforts to all those who are active on the Palestinian scene, but more steps need to be taken by the Arab and Islamic peoples and Islamic associations throughout the Arab and Islamic world in order to make possible the next round with the Jews, the merchants of war.

We have cast among them enmity and hatred till the day of Resurrection. As often as they light a fire for war, Allah extinguishes it. Their effort is for corruption in the land, and Allah loves not corrupters. Sura V (Al-Ma'idah - the Table spread), verse 64.

Hamas: Israeli leftists encouraged terrorism (WND, 2004):
Prisoners say 'fragmentation' of Jewish state emboldened them to attack: "The disengagement from Gaza is proof of our victory. The fact that Sharon is willing to withdraw unconditionally is basically equivalent to raising a white flag and retreating. Only by force are we able to teach the other side what to do."

As for the struggle against Israel;  Hamas "will emphasize our people's right to resist the occupation - outside the Gaza Strip - so long as the occupation of the land and the aggression continue,.. (Hamas spells out policy on disengagement, Haaretz, 2004).

Leviticus Ch. 26 begins with the idyllic blessings that await the Jewish people if they live up to their covenant with God, and then proceeds to the Admonition, a sobering account of punishments, frustrations, and curses that will result from attempts to destroy the covenant. Indeed, though God's underlying mercy prevents all of these curses from befalling Israel in any one unbearable instant, a careful reading of Jewish history-and perhaps the twentieth century in particular-shows that they have taken place at various intervals, before and during the exiles. The blessings are given in general terms, the curses, however, are given in great detail, because they are intended to awe the people into obedience to God's will (Ibn Ezra).

These horrendous punishments mentioned here are meant not as revenge, but to influence people to repent, and for that reason they are inflicted in stages of increasing severity. If the first stage comes and Israel does not derive the desired lesson, the next and more severe stage of punishments will befall them, until repentance and God's mercy finally come.

Just before his death, Moses gave the people a chilling prophecy of the horrors that would befall them if they spurned God and the Torah. Deuteronomy Ch. 28 spells out the blessing for fulfilling the commandments and the Admonition for disobedience. Israel had happy times, prosperity, peace, and everything it could fairly desired, but it did not serve/worship God, but serve/worshiped their deities. In return, it will become subservient to its enemies, amid humiliation, hunger and disease.

VIDEO: The Third Jihad

But what fate awaits the anti-Semites of this world? What became of Hitler and the ”Thousand Year Reich”? His Reich lasted only twelve years from 1933 through 1945, and he died broken and defeated, hiding in an underground bunker.

Isaiah 14:1-2 "For the LORD will have compassion on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land; and the stranger shall join himself with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob. And the peoples shall take them, and bring them to their place; and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and for handmaids; and they shall take them captive, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors."

Isaiah 60:12,14 says "For the nation and the kingdom that shall not serve you shall perish, and the nations shall be destroyed.”And the sons of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee, and all they that despised thee shall bow down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee the city of the LORD, the Zion of the Holy One of Israel."

Isaiah 41:11-12 ” Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded; they that strove with thee shall be as nothing, and shall perish. Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee; they that warred against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.”

Isaiah 45:14,22-25 "Thus saith the LORD: The labour of Egypt, and the merchandise of Ethiopia, and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over unto thee, and they shall be thine; they shall go after thee, in chains they shall come over; and they shall fall down unto thee, they shall make supplication unto thee: Surely God is in thee, and there is none else, there is no other God.

Look unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is none else. By Myself have I sworn, the word is gone forth from My mouth in righteousness, and shall not come back, that unto Me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. Only in the LORD, shall one say of Me, is victory and strength; even to Him shall men come in confusion, all they that were incensed against Him. In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory. "

II Kings 17:27: The king of Assyria then commands that a Kohen, whom he had exiled, be brought to them, to ”teach them the law of the God of the land." Realizing that he he could not uproot centuries of idolatry from these people, the Kohen allowed them to continue serving their idols, not as deities, but rather as intermediaries. Thus, he instructed them to direct their thoughts to God, even when performing the rituals of their old beliefs (Radak).

"Thou shalt have no other gods before Me" (Exodus 20:2). This is a negative commandment not to believe in any deity other than the one true God, Creator of the Universe, meaning that it is forbidden to set up a mediator between God and man (Maimonides - Laws of Idolatry Ch. 1). In other words, it is forbidden to worship God through an idol. Isaiah 43:3,10-11,15 says "For I am the LORD thy God, The Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour;.. before Me there was no God formed, neither shall any be after Me. ,  I even I, am the LORD; and beside Me there is no saviour. I am the LORD, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King."

The Catholic belief is that prayer must be directed through an intermediary i.e., confessing one’s sins to a priest. Jesus himself is an intermediary, as Jesus said, "No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6).

Deuteronomy 4:15-16 warns us: "Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves--for ye saw no manner of form on the day that the LORD spoke unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire--  lest ye deal corruptly, and make you a graven image, even the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female,.."

"For God is one; and there is but one Mediator between God and humanity, Yeshua the Messiah, himself human, (1 Timothy 2:5). "Now an intermediary implies more than one; but God is one" (Galatians 3:20, Hebrews 8:6, 9:15, 12:24). 2 Corinthians 4:4 "the glory of the Messiah, who is the image of God..." "He is the visible image of the invisible God" (Colossians 1:14-16).

One of Messianic Jews' "Statements of faith" reads: "We believe in the deity of Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus the Messiah). We believe He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless Torah-observant life and performed many miracles." Nothing could be farther from the truth.

RaDaK in a lengthy comment on II Kings 17:27 explains that the Israelites did indeed continue to believe in HaShem even though they made the golden calves. They made them only to serve as an intermediary between themselves and HaShem. Thus we see that even the most wicked of the Israelites also sought out HaShem, such as when Jeraboam begged the prophets to intercede on account of his paralyzed arm and sick baby (I Kings 13:6; 14:2), or when Ahab agreed with Elijah about the prophets of Baal (cf. also I Kings 20:42; 21:27), or when his son Jehoram saw the hand of HaShem behind the danger hanging over his mission with the kings of Judah and Edom against Moab (II Kings 3:10). It was not that they did not believe in HaShem. Their flaw was to serve intermediaries (Azamra.org).

II Kings 17:33-34 ”They (the Samaritans) feared the Lord, yet they worshipped their own gods, as was the custom of the nations (The Ten Tribes) whom they had exiled from there. Until this day, they practice just as their earlier practices; they do not fear the Lord (as the  proper custom expected from the Israelites), neither do they practice according to their statutes and laws, nor according to the Law and the commandment that the Lord commanded the sons of Jacob, whose name He called Israel.”

God changed Jacob’s name to Israel only after He ordered his entourage to discard all their alien gods (Genesis 35:2-4,10), because a person cannot earn God’s blessing unless his loyalty is complete and unequivocal (Radak). But the Samaritans could not bring themselves to do so. They adopted Jewish practices out of the fear of the lions, but they retained their idols as well.

II Kings 17:35-”And the Lord enacted a covenant with them (Israel, when He gave them the Torah at Mt. Sinai), saying, "You shall not fear other gods, neither shall you prostrate yourselves to them nor worship them, and you shall not slaughter [sacrifices] to them. Only the Lord Who brought you up from the land of Egypt with great might and with an outstretched arm, Him shall you fear, and to Him shall you prostrate yourselves and to Him shall you slaughter sacrifices. And the statutes and the judgments, and the Law and the commandment that He wrote for you, you shall heed to perform all times, and you shall not fear strange gods.

And the covenant that I enacted with you, you shall not forget, neither shall you fear strange gods. But the Lord your God you shall fear, and He will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies."
But they did not obey, but according to their earlier practice they were doing (See Hosea 11:1-4). And these nations feared the Lord, yet they worshipped their graven images; also their children and their grandchildren, as their forefathers had done, they are doing until this day.”

Ezekiel Ch. 36 is introducing the theme that at the end of days Israel will be purified of their sins, in verses 16-21 the prophet recounts the history of Israel after they first took possession of the land, when "they defiled it through their way and their deeds - God 'distanced' Israel and exiled them to the lands of the nations because of their sins, but He will restore them after they return to Him and become purified of their sins.

The ingathering of the exiles take place right before the eyes of Israel's enemies - BEFORE THEIR PURIFICATION. That means that even though many of the ingathered Jewish inhabitants of the land are still far from the Torah, if God has fulfilled His promise to bring them back physically, He will in the end surely fulfill His promise to bring them back spiritually.  So how DARE Hamas & Co. attack them?

Ezekiel 36:24-29 " For I will take you from among the nations and gather you from all the countries, and I will bring you to your land. And I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and you will be clean; from all your impurities and from all your abominations will I cleanse you." "Rabbi Akiva said, Happy are you O Israel: Before Whom are you purified? Who purifies you? Your Father in heaven!" (Yoma 86a).

"And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit will I put within you, and I will take away the heart of stone (Evil Inclination) out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. And I will put My spirit within you and bring it about that you will walk in My statutes and you will keep My ordinances and do [them]. Then will you dwell in the land that I gave your fathers, and you will be a people to Me, and I will be to you as a God. And I will save you from all your uncleannesses,.."

Zechariah 13:1 "On that day, a spring shall be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for purification and for sprinkling."Targum Yonasan says this will be a fountain of Torah teachings that will purify people from their sins just as the waters of the ashes of the red heifer purify from defilement from contact with the dead (Azamra.org).
