Is not My word so like fire? (Jeremiah 23:29)
Therefore, so says the Lord God of Hosts, because you have spoken this word. Behold I put My words into your mouth as fire, and this people shall be wood and it shall consume them" (Jeremiah 5:14, Isaiah 11:4).

For Tophteh (Gehinnom, Hell, a spiritual cleansing place) is set up from yesterday, that too has been prepared for the king (Gog & Magog), it deepened, it widened its pile, of fire and much wood, the breath of the Lord is like a stream of brimstone, burning therein" (Isaiah 30:33, 31:9). The "hearth" (TOPHTEH) refers to Gehennom, "because everyone who is seduced (MIT-PHATEH) by his evil inclination (satan) falls there" (Rashi). A place in hell has already been prepared for the forces of Gog & Magog.

Sheik Yunus al-Astal, a Hamas legislator and imam, in a column in the weekly newspaper Al Risalah in 2008 discussed a Koranic verse suggesting that "suffering by fire is the Jews' destiny in this world and the next." Astal concluded "Therefore we are sure that the Holocaust is still to come upon the Jews" (The Herald Tribune, 1 April 08).

Ahmadinejad: Palestinian unity to send evil Israel to hell: He emphasized that the Israeli regime is on the decline and has reached an impasse, calling on the Palestinians and regional nations to strengthen their unity to achieve victory over Israel. "Unity and readiness of the Palestinian people are the only ways to control this evil demon and send it to the bottom of hell," said the Iranian president (PressTV, Sun, 28 Feb 2010).

God always punishes with the method of "Midah Keneged Midah." I.e. a punishment that has a correlation to the act that is done. For example, Pharoh decreed death by drowning the Jewish males in his decree of "Every son that will be born - into the river shall you throw him!" (Exodus 1:22). Therefore, his army died by drowning at Yam Suf as Measure for Measure. So when Ahmadinejad decreed to send Israel to hell - therefore he and his army will be sent to hell.

Hell itself would shudder and tremble with the arrival of Nebuchadnezzar. Isaiah's depiction of all the amazed shadows in hell, the souls of the dead kings and mighty of history, as they wonder over the fall of the mighty Nebuchadnezzar, opens a tiny chink for us into the netherworld, where the souls of the wicked seem to be imprisoned in a never-ending time warp.

Isaiah 14:9-15 "Gehinnom (sheol) from beneath quaked for you, toward your arrival; it aroused for you the giants, all the chiefs of the earth; it caused all the kings of the nations to rise from their thrones. All of them shall speak up and say to you, 'Have you too become weak like us? Have you become like us?' Your pride has been lowered into Gehinnom, the stirring of your psalteries. Maggots are spread under you, and worms cover you."

"How have you fallen from heaven, the morning star? You have been cut down to earth, You who cast lots on nations. And you said to yourself, 'To the heavens will I ascend, above God's stars will I raise my throne, and I will sit on the mount of the assembly, in the farthest end of the north. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will liken myself to the Most High.' But into the nether world shall you be brought down, to the bottom of the pit."

Throughout this chapter and the preceding chapter of Isaiah, the prophet foretells the rise and fall of this arrogant king who would use his unbridled power to plunder Jerusalem and destroy its Temple but, at the end, would suffer a cataclysmic downfall.  In 14:12 Nebuchadnezzar is compared to the planet Venus whose light is still visible in the morning yet vanishes with the rise of the sun.  Like the light of Venus, Nebuchadnezzar's reign shone brilliantly for a short time, yet, as the prophets foretold, was eventually overshadowed by the nation of Israel whose light endured and outlived this arrogant nation who tormented and exiled her.

Christians argue that Isaiah's mention of the fallen "morning star" refers to Satan's ultimate demise at the end of time when Satan will finally be cast into a lake of fire as articulated in the twentieth chapter of the Book of Revelation. Is this claim really true?

Moreover, the Church has no room in heaven for those who do not believe in Jesus and obey his Gospel, and instead of spending eternity in a lush paradise, also non-Christians are relegated by the New Testament and its Church to an eternal lake of hell-fire.

“...the Lord Jesus will be revealed from  heaven with His mighty angels in  flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord (Jesus) and from the glory of His (Jesus’) power, when He comes to be glorified in His saints (the Christians) on that day, and to be marveled at among all who have believed--for our testimony to you was believed” (2 Tessalonians 1:7-10).

"His winnowing  fork is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clear His threshing floor; and He will gather His wheat (the Christians) into the barn, but He will burn up the chaff (the Jews) with unquenchable fire" (
Matthew 3:12, Luke 3:16-17). Adam Clarke in his Bible Commentary states "those who believe in the Lord Jesus, he will gather into his garner, either take to heaven from the evil to come, or put in a place of safety,.. But he will burn up the chaff-the disobedient and rebellions Jews, who would not come unto Christ, that they might have life.”

"For many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ, whose end is destruction, whose god is their appetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who set their minds on earthly things" (Phil. 3:18-19).
Adam Clarke in his commentary to the NT state: "They (the Jews) rather attribute justification to the Levitical sacrifices, than to the sacrificial death of Christ; and thus they are enemies to that cross,..).

However, even if the Church and the authors of the NT abolished the Torah and the Sacrificial system - it ultimately be reinstated in the Messianic Age and the Temple will be rebuilt. (Zec. 14:21, 6:12-13, Ezekiel. Chs. 37, 40-47, Isaiah 56:6-8, 60:6-7, Jeremiah 33:14-18, Ch. 30, Haggai 2:9, Hosea 3:4-5).

Exploring the relationship between Christianity and Islam, according to the Quran, whose scriptures is based upon the anti-Jewish NT; prepared for the disbelievers; the Fire, whose fuel is men and stones (See Quran: Ch. 2: Al-Baqarah, 2:24) "And those who disbelieve and deny Our signs - those will be companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally, (2:39).

Matthew 13:30 `Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather up the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them up; but gather  the wheat into my barn."

Matthew 25:41,45 "Then He will also say to those (the goats) on the left hand, "Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:.. And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous (lambs) into eternal life." The righteous are according to the Christian scriptures those who believe in Jesus (See also Matthew 5:29).

"Indeed, those who disbelieve - never will their wealth or their children avail them against Allah at all. And it is they who are fuel for the Fire. [Theirs is] like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and those before them. They denied Our signs, so Allah seized them for their sins. And Allah is severe in penalty. Say to those who disbelieve, "You will be overcome and gathered together to Hell, and wretched is the resting place." (Quran Ch.3: Al-Imran, The Family of 'Amran, 3:10-12). "We will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve for what they have associated with Allah of which He had not sent down [any] authority. And their refuge will be the Fire, and wretched is the residence of the wrongdoers" (3:151).

"Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who were given a portion of the Book? they believe in sorcery and Evil, and say to the Unbelievers that they are better guided in the (right) way Than the believers (the Muslims). They are (men) whom Allah hath cursed: And those whom Allah Hath cursed, thou wilt find, have no one to help.... Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah, and those who reject Faith Fight in the cause of Evil: So fight ye against the friends of Satan: feeble indeed is the cunning of Satan" (Quran Surah 4: An-Nisa, 4:51-52,76).

"Allah commands Moslems to fight the friends of Satan wherever they are to be found. Among the friends of Satan—indeed, among the foremost friends of Satan in the present age—are the Jews.” (Dr. Abdul Halim Mahmoud as quoted by Prof Paul Eidelberg, in "PLO Terrorism and the Grand Strategy", Palestinian Media Watch, March 12, 2001).

John 8:44 "You (Jews) are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it."

"I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are rich) and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not,
but are a synagogue of Satan" (Revelation 2:9, see v. 13, 3:9).

Jesus of Nazareth: "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,.." (Matthew  5:43-44 NIV).

Jesus' condemnation to death of Jews: "But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, "We will not have this man to reign over us.' (Luke 19:14 NKJ). Adam Clarke says in his commentary that the citizens are his countrymen-the Jewish people, who professed to be subjects of the kingdom of God.

"But bring those enemies of mine who didn't want me to reign over them here, and kill them before me.'(Luke 19:27 HNV). Adam Clake comments: "The Jews, whom I shall shortly slay by the sword of the Romans."

Luke 12:2-5 NKJ ”For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops. "And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!

“Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light, and what  you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” (Matthew 10:27-28 NKJ).

Such (evil) narrow(minded) teachings, however, are alien and utterly abhorrent to the Jewish people. The faith of Israel proclaims that the merciful Redeemer holds out a distinct salvation program both for the Jew and the Gentile.

Will God Only Save the Jews?

So, What Is This Fire? The oppression the Israelis suffered in Egypt is likened to a furnace in which metal is purified (Deut. 4:20, 1 Kings 8:51). The iron crucible or the melting furnace of iron is a vessel in which gold is refined and purified of its impurities.

Whenever Jews sinned against God, He brought upon them what ever punishments they deserved, as related to the Admonition of Deut. 28, Lev. 26, failure to obey the covenant will result in punishment (Jeremiah 9:1-16, 11:3-11).

Psalms 32:10 ”The wicked man, who like them, chaffs at suffering, has many troubles. But one who trusts in God (knowing that all the suffering God sends is intended to cleanse and refine him) will be surrounded with love.”

God sends suffering and misfortune to help man reach the state of true repentance and its accompanying joy. Knowing the pain of suffering is relieved by awareness of the fact; that suffering is intended for our own benefit. "God inflicts illness, tribulations and suffering to make the victim consider his mortality and mend his ways, thereby saving his life in the process" (Rashi). ”Behold, I have refined thee, but not as silver; I have tried thee in the furnace of affliction” (Isaiah 48:10).

Psalms 16:4 ”But as for those who hurry after other gods, their afflictions will be multiplied. I will not pour out libations of blood like theirs, I will not bear the names of their gods upon my lips.”

The Torah Is Called ”Fire:” And just as a fire which cleanses, purifies and refines gold and silver from dross, so does the Torah. Jeremiah 23:29 "Are my words not like a fire, says Hashem, like a hammer that splits a rock (the Evil Inclination)?"

Calamity is depicted as a terrible burning and smelting of metals: ”The house of Israel has become dross to Me; all of them are copper and tin and iron and lead in the midst of a furnace; dross of silver have they become. Therefore, so said the Lord God: Because you have all become dross, therefore behold, I gather you together into the midst of Jerusalem.

As they gather silver, copper, iron, lead, and tin into the midst of a furnace to blow fire upon it, to melt it, so shall I gather with My wrath and with My fury, and I shall cast you in and melt you. And I shall gather you, and I shall blow upon you with the fire of My anger, and you will be melted in its midst. As silver is melted in the midst of a furnace, so will you be melted in its midst, and you shall know that I, the Lord, have poured out My fury upon you" (Ezekiel 22:18-22, Zechariah 13:8-9, Isaiah Ch 1).

The Danger of Assimilation: An example of this "outpoured anger" in modern times was when the proportion of assimilated Jews in Europe rose to over 50% in the 1930's, provoking a fury that while indiscriminately wiping out six million Jews, religious and non-religious, also indirectly lead to the establishment of the State of Israel, a huge ingathering of the exiles and the ongoing Torah revival that is taking place in our generation (Rabbi Avraham Greenbaum on Ezekiel 20:32-33).

A Jewish Proverb says: ”Pray that you will never have to bear all that you are able to endure."

Malachi Ch 3 depicts the great cleansing process that is going to take place at the end of days; when the messenger of the covenant appears; ”it is like fire that refines and like fullers' soap.” Like soap which removes the entire stain, so will he remove all wickedness (Rashi, Psalms 119:119). ”And he shall sit refining and purifying silver (the House of Israel), and he shall purify the children of Levi. And he shall purge them as gold and as silver,..”

The prophet Jeremiah ”was made a fortress among My people, a stronghold (Jeremiah 1:18-19, 15:20-21, Michah 4:8); you shall observe and test their ways. They are all the ultimate rebels, gossip mongers, brazen as copper and iron; they are all destroyers. The bellows are singed by fire, the lead is spent. The smelter smelts in vain, for the dross is not removed...” (Jeremiah 6:27-30).

Of all the prophets charged to remonstrate with the Jewish people to stop their plunge to destruction, none had a more difficult task than Jeremiah, and the prophetic attempt to purify the Israelis became futile. Let’s hope and pray that the messenger of the covenant will be more successful...

Jesu s of Nazareth: "Woe to you hypocritical Torah-teachers and P'rushim! You go about over land and sea to make one proselyte,

and when you succeed, you make him twice as fit for Gei-Hinnom as you are!" Matthew 23:15 CJB Contrast this with this:

Isaiah 56:6-8 "Also the aliens, that join themselves to HaShem, to minister unto Him, and to love the Name of HaShem, to be His servants, every one that keepeth the Sabbath from profaning it, and holdeth fast by My covenant (the Torah): Even them will I bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer, their burnt-offerings and their sacrifices shall be acceptable upon Mine altar, for My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples ( Not only for Israel, but also for the proselytes), saith the Lord God Who gathereth the dispersed of Israel: yet I will gather others to him (of the heathens of the nations who will convert and join them), beside those of him that are gathered." (See also Isaiah 66:22-23, Ezekiel 46:1-3). In addition to the exiled Jews, many gentile converts will rally to Moshiach.
