Elijah the Prophet Ushers in the Messianic Age
Moshiach is not called a savior but rather, one who has been saved (VE-NOSHA). The two Hebrew words TZADIK and NOSHA, are literally: RIGHT, RIGHTEOUS, proved to be right, and saved. Not a Christian style savior, but just a saved human. The Hebrew verb in this verse "VE'NOSHA," is gramaticlly in the passive form, the "VE" simply means "AND." "NOSHA" is the verb, meaning "ONE WHO HAS BEEN SAVED." If the verb were active "SAVIOR" the Hebrew would say "MOSHIA" and it does not, indicating that the true future Redeemer be not a man of flesh and blood but God alone (Rabbi Avraham Greenbaum on Zechariah 9:9).

How beautiful upon the mountains (nations) are the feet of the messenger of good tidings, that announceth peace, the harbinger of good tidings, that announceth salvation; that saith unto Zion: 'Thy God reigneth!' (Isaiah 52:7). This alludes to the feet of Elijah who will stride upon the mountains of Jerusalem proclaiming the Final Redemption, the resuscitation of the dead, as well as the ultimate World to Come.

"The creature that relied, You shall guard, [that there be] peace, peace, for they trusted in You.Trust in the Lord forever, for in Yah the Lord, is the Rock of eternity. For He humbled the inhabitants of the high places (Rome, USA, etc), the fortified city (the Vatican); He brings it low, he brings it low even to the earth, he makes it reach even to the dust.

A foot shall trample it, the feet of a poor man, the soles of the impoverished" (Isaiah 26:3-6). "The feet of a poor man" refers to the Mashiach, who is referred to as a poor man riding on a donkey (the Tribes, Zech. 9:9, Genesis 49:8-12). "The soles of the impoverished" refers to Israel.

"Be exceedingly happy, O daughter of Zion; Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem. Behold! Your king shall come to you. He is just (TZADIK VE'NOSHA) and victorious; humble, and riding a donkey and a foal, the offspring of [one of] she-donkeys"  (Zechariah 9:9). While the horse was the primary mount for the warrior, the ass was used by those who traveled in peace.

"If you believe your place is within the People of The Covenant, then you should strive to observe all the commandments already" (Rabbi Avraham Greenbaum). Leviticus 26:41-43 "If then, their clogged (blocked) heart becomes humbled, then, [their sufferings] will gain appeasement for their iniquity,.."   Thus, the meaning of this verse is: If they want to become like the nations, I will have to take them back to Me against their will (Ezekiel 20:32-33), but, if their clogged heart then becomes humbled without force, their sufferings will atone for them… (Sifthei Chachamim).

"...and I will remember My covenant [with] Jacob, and also My covenant [with] Isaac, and also My covenant [with] Abraham I will remember. And I will remember the Land, [For] the Land will be bereft of them, appeasing its sabbaticals when it had been desolate of them, and they will gain appeasement for their iniquity. This (the exile) was all in retribution for their having despised My ordinances and in retribution for their having rejected My statutes."

"Verily Thou art a God that hidest Thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour (MOSHIA). They shall be ashamed, yea, confounded, all of them; they shall go in confusion together that are makers of idols. O Israel, that art saved by the LORD with an everlasting salvation; ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end" (Isaiah 45:15-17).

"I, even I, am the LORD; and beside Me there is no saviour (MOSHIA). I am the LORD, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King" (Isaiah 43:11,15, Hosea 13:4). "For the LORD is our Judge, the LORD is our Lawgiver, the LORD is our King; He will save us" (Isaiah 33:22).

A Hebrew - English Bible

Tradition teaches that Elijah will appear to herald the coming of Messiah. His mission will be to establish peace on earth (Rambam, Hil. Melachim 12:2). According to the Christian doctrine Elijah was John the Baptist.

John is also one of the prophets Muslims must believe in. He is one of the 25 mentioned in the Quran. A person who denies belief in any of the prophets, be it Jesus, Moses, or any of the others leaves the fold of Islam.

"And We bestowed upon Abraham (offspring) Isaac and Jacob and each of them did We guide to the right way as We had earlier guided Noah to the right way; and (of his descendants We guided) David and Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses and Aaron. Thus do We reward those who do good. (And of his descendants We guided) Zecheriah, John, Jesus and Elias: each one of them was of the righteous." (Quran Surat Al-'An`am 6:84-85).

"Assuredly, I (Jesus) say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist;.. And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is to come (Matthew 11:11-14). But John the Baptist denies that he is Elijah or the prophet (John 1:21, Luke 1:57.67-70,76) : ”And they asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" And he answered, "No."

In contrast to the real Messiah, whose mission is to make peace and harmony among the peoples, Jesus says he did not come to give peace on earth, but rather division and a sword (war), and he demands hate, splitting and alienation within the family. Jesus says that he has come to destroy families by making family members hate each other. Did Jesus' choice of an ass as his riding animal for his triumphal entry into Jerusalem symbolized his role as the Prince of Peace?

”Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household” (Matthew 10:34-36).

”I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division. For from now on five in one house will be divided: three against two, and two against three. Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law" (Luke 12:49,51-53).

"If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple" (
Luke 14:26). And f amilies will be torn apart because of Jesus. ”Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death” (Matthew 10:21). So, do you really believe that if you abandon your family – Jesus will give you a big reward? (Matthew 19:29, Mark 10:28-31, Luke 18:28-30).

" Behold, I am sending My messenger, and he will clear a path before Me suddenly the Lord Whom you seek will come to His Sanctuary," (The prophet Elijah, God's messenger of the covenant (Radak), will eleminate the wicked from the land in preparation for the Messianic Era, (Rashi).

IDF Uncovers Terrorists, Assault Rifles in PA - Controlled Hevron: The IDF and police arrested seven Arab terrorists and uncovered a large weapons cache Monday night in Hevron, where the Palestinian Authority says it is controlling terror and has complained about Israeli interference. All of the terrorists are being interrogated.

Mashaal: Resistance must be launched in West Bank: Hamas politburo chief slams Palestinian Authority blaming it of selling off Palestinian people's rights. 'Peace talks became a process of daily humiliation,' he says. Meanwhile, Palestinian negotiator Erekat blames Israel of writing off agreements . Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal said on Saturday that his group faced "huge challenges" in the West Bank as a force against Israel . (Ynet News, 11.27.10).

Isaiah 60:12 "For the nation and the kingdom that shall not serve you shall perish, and the nations shall be destroyed."

What is the difference between Hamas and PA? “Daddy gave me a present, a machine gun and a rifle. When I am a big boy, I will join the Liberation Army, the army of Al-Qassam (Hamas), which has taught us how to defend our homeland. We will be victorious over America and Israel.” (Part of a song sung by a boy on a Hamas children’s TV program, Al Aqsa TV (Hamas) Feb. 5, 2010, Palwatch.org).

“I want to defend. I want to fight. I want to carry a machine gun and rifle... I won’t care about you, my enemy, or about the West. And we shall strike Israel.” (Sung by relatives of Arab terrorists on official Palestinian TV (Fatah) May 28, 2010, Palwatch.org).

Do you think that the PA "security forces" in Judea and Samaria, that were trained and armed in the past five years by US Lieutenant General Keith Dayton, one day will turn on Israel?

New Palestinian National Army: Many Palestinian soldiers couldn't praise enough what they called the high degree of professional training provided by several U.S. Special Forces trainers. The Palestinians...are proud of the army believing it's critical to forming a Palestinian State and to demonstrate to  Israel there will be security for both peoples. Palestinian Colonel Raed Asedeh... predicts it's only a matter of time before his troops patrol all of the West Bank, marching towards a Palestinian State. American tax payers have funded most of the force to the tune of more than 500 million dollars (May 28, 2010, Fox News).

Could US-Trained PA Military Turn Guns on Israel? Keith Dayton himself has expressed belief that his PA army would likely attack the Jewish state in the event that Israel does not give in to the demands of the Middle East Quartet, comprising America, Russia, the United Nations and European Union. At a May 2009 lecture in Washington, Dayton indicated that if Israel does not surrender Judea and Samaria to the PA within two years, the Fatah forces he and his fellow American officers are currently training could easily turn their guns on the Israelis. "With big expectations, come big risks," Dayton said. "There is perhaps a two-year shelf life on being told that you're creating a state, when you're not."

Al-Aqsa Terrorists Appionted To Fatah Security Force: In a move of great concern to Israel (and one which should be of great concern to all those who oppose terrorism), the Fatah conference (2009) also endorsed the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades as Fatah’s official armed wing. The endorsement of the group as Fatah’s official armed wing contradicts repeated promises made by the Fatah leadership under various agreements it has signed with Israel and the U:S: to dismantle the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades. Asked by a Palestinian journalist for his views on the continuing security and military training the U.S. is supplying to the PA, Zakariya Zubeidi, one of the commanders of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, smiled and said: ”I am happy. In case there is a future war, we will have some people who will be well trained”

Fatah spokesman Fahmi Al-Za’arir stated: “We know that every warrior has a period of rest - and also we know that this does not mean the end of the national battle, but only a wait to obtain the goals, and to give the leadership sufficient opportunity for political activity.” And in an interview, another Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades activist, Kifah Radaydeh, said the PA would resume violence against Israel when Fatah is “capable,” and “according to what seems right... It has been said that we are negotiating for peace, but our goal has never been peace. Peace is a means; the goal is Palestine.”

Senior PA official Mohammed Dahlan stressed that Fatah adamantly refuses to recognize Israel, and that even the Palestinian Authority’s recognition is only for the sake of receiving foreign aid:

"…the Fatah movement does not recognize Israel, even today... [such recognition is] required of the government but not of the Fatah, so that this government will be able to offer the necessary assistance, to carry out the necessary reconstruction, to offer assistance to the sick, to bring relief to needy families...

This can be dealt with [only] by a government that has relations with the international community, one that is acceptable to the international community, in order that we can work together and benefit from the international community"  (Fatah Official: “Our Goal is Not Peace, but Rather Palestine”, 07/13/09, INN).

PA Weighs Islamic Indoctrination for Undisciplined U.S.-Trained Forces : The Palestinian Authority, alarmed by a decline in discipline, has been examining the introduction of Islamic doctrine in the security forces. PA sources said security chiefs were discussing the prospect of bringing in Muslim clerics to indoctrinate the 25,000 members of the security forces. The biggest concern was that Western donors would object to the Islamization program. The discipline problem was said to stem from the replacement of hundreds of commanders over the last two years. The officers, most of them who had reached retirement age, have been replaced by men in their 30s and 40s, often younger than their troops. The model for the Islamization proposal has been the Hamas regime in Gaza, where security forces have undergone extensive Islamic indoctrination to ensure loyalty.

Hamas Charter: "When the PLO adopts Islam as the guideline for life, then we shall become its soldiers, the fuel of its fire which will burn the enemies. And until that happens, and we pray to Allah that it will happen soon, the position of the Hamas towards the PLO is one of a son towards his father, a brother towards his brother, and a relative towards his relative who suffers the other's pain when a thorn hits him, who supports the other in the confrontation with the enemies and who wishes him divine guidance and integrity of conduct. Your brother, your brother! Whoever has no brother, is like a fighter who runs to the battle without weapons. A cousin for man is like the best wing, and no falcon can take off without wings."

Mashaal: Resistance must be launched in West Bank: Mashaal, who lives in exile in Syria , said only armed resistance would keep the Palestinian cause alive, despite Western aid to Abbas and his forces. "The Palestinian people will not be bribed... "We are not talking about a business deal or making a profit. Our only capital is the land, identity and dignity," Mashaal said. Renewed Egyptian efforts in the last several months to narrow difference between Hamas and Fatah have failed. Recently, there were failed attempts to reconcile between the Palestinian factions... ( Ynet News, 11.27.10). See "Corruption."

According to Deuteronomy Ch. 20:10-18 Israel must give its enemy an opportunity to make peace. Those who accepted this offer were required to pay taxes, perform national service, and, if they were going to live in the land, to accept the Seven Noahide Laws. And if they repented and wished to convert to Judaism, Israel is allowed to accept them.

"and the messenger of the covenant for whom you yearn, behold, he comes, says Hashem, Master of Legions. Who can bear the day of his coming and who can survive when he appears? For he will be like the smelter's fire and like the launderers' soap. And he shall sit refining and purifying silver," (He will free himself from all his affairs to be like a refiner, who refines and purifies silver).

"and he shall purify the children of Levi. And he shall purge them as gold and as silver, and they shall be offering up an offering to the Lord with righteousness. And then the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem shall be pleasant to the Lord, as in the days of old and former years" (Malachi 3:1-4). See also Ezekiel 22:18-22, Zech. 13:8-9, Isaiah Ch. 1.

Malachi 3:22-24 "Keep in remembrance the teaching of Moses, My servant-the laws and ordinances which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel." Observe the Torah, so that you will be spared on Judgment Day. "Lo, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord, that he may turn the heart of the fathers back through the children, and the heart of the children back through their fathers-lest I come and smite the earth with utter destruction."  Elijah will draw people's hearts back to God and His Torah before Judgment Day, to increase the number of people who will survive His Judgment

In the case of God's promise to resuscitate the dead, we must make a special expression of confidence in God. First, because none of us has ever seen such a thing happen, and second, because it involves bringing back countless people (our forefathers, Deut. 11:21) whose remains have long since disintegrated (1 Sam. 2:6). As it is written: "And you (Daniel), go to the end, and you will rest and rise to your lot at the end of the days" (Daniel 12:13).

"And many who sleep in the dust of the earth will awaken-these for eternal life, and those for disgrace, for eternal abhorrence"
(Daniel 12.3, Isaiah 66:23-24). This refers to the resurrection of the dead (Rashi) – as well, of course, to the tremendous spiritual awakening and the widespread return to the Torah that we witness in our time among Israelite souls that in some cases have been buried in exile and cultural alienation for centuries. This itself is the revival of the dead! (Rabbi Avraham Greenbaum).

"You are eternally mighty my Lord, the Resuscitator of the dead are You, abundantly able to save. Who makes the wind blow and makes the rain descend, Who sustains the living with kindness, resuscitates the dead with abundant mercy, supports the fallen, heals the sick, releases the confined, and maintains His faith to those asleep in the dust. Who is like You, O Master of mighty deeds, and who is comparable to You, O King Who causes death and restores life... And You are faithful to resuscitate the dead. Blessed are You, HaShem, Who resuscitates the dead." Amen.
